What Styles Of Designer Sunglasses Will Be Big In 2010

Posted by admin | Emporio Armani glasses,Giorgio Armani glasses | Friday 26 February 2010 1:31 am

Although prescription sunglasses were designed to be a protection for the eyes, many of us buy them in order to accessorise with our clothing. It can be quite simple to get your hands on some cheap sunglasses but designer sunglasses are more often than not the choice for many these days. There are so many different designers selling sunglasses such as Ray-Ban, Gucci or Oakley sunglasses.

You will more than likely see almost every celebrity out and about in designer shades and many of us are obsessed with copying celebrities. And while most of us know that prescription sunglasses are primarily for providing protection to the eyes, we also know that they also provide us with a fabulous look! There are styles available to suit women, men and children so that everyone can look good in a pair of shades.

As well as there being designer shades available to fit everyone, there are also many different designs to suit a huge variety of tastes. And designer sunglasses have become much more affordable in recent times so they are not limited now to the rich and famous. Every year there are different styles of designer shades available and 2010 has plenty of new styles for everyone. Coloured tints are set to be a big trend this year. We can now choose to have lenses in colourful tints such as mauve instead of blacks or tans which we have been used to.

Following the styles of many Ray Ban styles, there will be colourful frames available from many other designers too. And other trends set to be big this year are fun patterned prints on the frames. It will then be possible to team these frames with other items to create a fabulous look

Prescription sunglasses are set to be even more popular this year and with another trend of wrap around frames hitting the shops, there will be many of us rushing out to buy them. These frames are said to be slimming and will highlight bone structure of the face so watch them fly out of the shops in no time.

Fashion Sunglasses Make You Look Fantastic And Will Probably Help You See Well In Bright Sunlight

Posted by admin | Emporio Armani glasses,Giorgio Armani glasses | Wednesday 24 February 2010 1:20 am

While designer prescription sunglasses are commonly considered a fashion accessory, they are actually intended as a protective device. These fashion accessories are available in different styles that provide something for just about every budget level. Many people use these fashion accessories as protective devices as well.

There are some things you should remember when buying sunglasses. Your eyes should be your primary concern. The glasses should protect your eyes and look good. There are some protective lenses that are designed for those who use glasses on a regular basis. If you need glasses for reading or regularly require them, you should consider purchasing prescription sunglasses.

The prescription versions of these glasses appear similar to other sunshades, but they actually contain prescription lenses. In fact, these are typically the same prescription as your regular glasses, but are capable of blocking the sun since they are tinted. The amount of tint on these lenses may vary based on the desired amount of protection from UV rays.

In many cases your optician will offer you a deal on prescription sunglasses when you purchase a set of regular glasses. Often this deal includes a free pair of shades for having purchased the regular glasses.  This can be a great way for you to save money on both pairs. If you purchase them by themselves they can tend to be priced around the same as other glasses.

Tinted lenses provide a varying degree of protection from the sun. This protection is referred to as the UV protection. This protection is very important since the rays from the have the potential to damage the condition off your eyes if they are exposed to bright sun for extended periods of time. The naked eye does not have any protection from these rays and even if you do not have vision problems, you should consider protecting your eyes.

The original intent of sunglasses was to provide protection to eyes, however, they eventually became more of a fashion accessory than they are a protective device. The fashion emphasis has been so great that many inexpensive pairs actually do not provide UV protection. The protection on prescription tinted lenses is often greater than what is offered in non prescription shades.

When you have decided on the desired amount of UV protection, then you can consider the style you desire. Obviously this will be one of your primary concerns and you will want the style of the frames to match your personal flair. Regardless of your amount of fashion sense, you can typically find something that will provide you with the look you desire.

There are some things you should keep in mind regarding fashion. The color of the frame should accentuate your skin tone. For example, some people look better in gold, while there are others who look better in silver frames. Of course, there are always colored frames that showcase your favorite color. The shape of the frame should match the shape of your face.

Although prescription sunglasses are a popular fashion accessory they are actually designed to provide your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun. People who wear prescription Gucci sunglasses should ask their doctor for a prescription for tinted lenses as well. Often you can save money by buying regular and tinted lenses at the same time. While you certainly want to look good in them you should also be able to see well out of them.

About Polarized Sunglasses

Posted by admin | Emporio Armani glasses,Giorgio Armani glasses | Monday 8 February 2010 1:02 am

Polarizer is manufactured according to the polarization of light. As we all know, when the sun casts onto the water surface, it will directly stimulate the eyes and make eyes feel fatigue, dizzy, especially when you drive a car, engaging in outdoor recreational activities. It will not only affect our work and emotions, but even affect our sense of the images which may cause dangers as a result; the long-term exposure to direct sunlight will result in the rapid decline in visual acuity, causing myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, cataract and so forth.

The effects of the polarizer are to effectively rule out and filter out the scattering of light beam, so that light can straightly and correctly cast into the visual images of eyes, thus the natural field of vision becomes clear. Like the principle of Venetian blinds, the light is adjusted to the same light to enter the room, so the natural landscape looks soft and not dazzling.

While polarizing lenses can filter out a lot of irregular optical interference, to avoid occurrence of dazzling phenomena, but the lens itself has weak polarizing effect, which influences the image authenticity and poor durability.

In general, polarized sunglasses on the market are made from fibers together with the polarizing film. It is different from optical polarized prescription sunglasses, because of its soft texture and instable bending arc. Due to the instability of bending arc, lens is likely to be distorted, directly leading to the poor transmission node and image distortion, thus it cannot play a normal effect of the optometrists. In addition, the surface is easy to be scratched and not durable.

While, the ideal prescription sunglasses should have the following important conditions:

First, they must be able to filter out more than 99% of solar UV radiation, with the performance of filter required able to meet international standards; second, they must be able to effectively block the sun light; third, the lenses should have standard curved arc design, so that they can form optical axis; fourth, frames are required to be firm and frame materials to be fine, safe and comfortable to wear.

The lens of polarized prescription sunglasses is a kind of synthetical substance, which is generally composed of seven portfolios. The outside two tiers have the function of anti-abrasion; the second and sixth storey are anti-UV layers; the 3rd and 5th layers are used to filter harmful rays; while the most polarizing layer is in the middle. Above all, the polarized sunglasses will neither affect vision, nor lead to chromatic aberration. At the same time, they can effectively avoid the harms of ultraviolet radiation on eyes, but to our pities, they are not wear-resistant, and easy to be scratched.

Designer sunglasses and sports shades: A pair for any occasion

Posted by admin | Emporio Armani glasses,Giorgio Armani glasses | Friday 5 February 2010 12:55 am

With the right pair of sunglasses there is no wrong place to wear them.

Not just for the beach or summer, sunglasses can be worn any day, and even at night, as the song “I wear my sunglasses at night” proved so many years ago. Of course, like shoes, there are different sunglasses for different occasions and different senses of style. So, which designer prescription sunglasses are best for you? Want something old-school, then go for Ray-Ban; something new-school, then Oakley; something chic, Prada or Gucci will do fine. When it comes to sports, sturdy and reliable often come before fashion. If you’re not happy anything out there, then you can always design and build your own as well. As for gadget lovers, X-ray sunglasses are still a ways off, but there are numerous MP3 player and Bluetooth sunglasses combos out there, that don’t even look all that dorky.

Designer ladies sunglasses

Forget handbags or jewellery, sunglasses are the ultimate fashion accessory. Be it Cheryl Cole and her pair of Tom Ford sunnies, or Jennifer Lopez in her Marc Jacobs sunglasses, designer shades are a must-have accessory for any pop star today. In fact, few celebrities are caught outdoors without them, and then they are only seen wearing the biggest designer names. Like handbags, the selection of designer models is equally immense, so we’ll try and break it down for you with the top selections for the upcoming spring/summer 2010 fashion season.

Prada Style

You can’t go wrong with Prada. The quality and sophistication of Prada sunglasses are clear at first glance. In addition to the Prada emblem emblazoned on the side, these designer sunglasses, from the Milan fashion stable, all exhibit a round one-piece lens connected at the centre for a distinct look and feel. The Prada sunglasses are both trend-setting and unique at the same time.

Gucci Class

Gucci has come out with a huge line-up of exquisite designer sunglasses for the spring and summer 2010 season. At Gucci, selection is king. There are designer models available in practically any colour, such as blue, black, white, or pink, together with gradient lenses in different colours as well, like burgundy, grey, or gold. To top it off, this year’s fashion line-up also includes Gucci sunglasses with round frames, rectangular frames, thick and slim end-pieces, and even various emblems on the side. Of course, the one common denominator for all these sunglasses is their designer feel, and luxurious look, which is even readily apparent in models without the Gucci logo on the side.

Ray-Ban Legacy

As the makers of the original aviator style of sunglasses, Ray-Ban is an iconic name in the sunglasses industry. Founded back in 1937 as both a stylish and effective solution for protecting the eyes of aviators, the sunglasses’ style has endured ever since. From their adverts, to their unique and basic old-school style, with lightweight minimal frames, everyone recognises a pair of Ray-Ban shades when they see them. What’s more impressive is that Ray-Bans never seem to go out of fashion either, both reinventing their old format, and coming up with new designs, like the Ray-Ban Wayfarer prescription sunglasses designer series. Whether opting for something stylish, like the Wayfarer series, or going for the classic minimalist outdoors design, Ray-Ban has a huge selection to please any niche.

Oakley Performance

Oakley is like the Nike of sunglasses. Over the last two decades, Oakley have clearly dominated to become the major name in shades, with designer, ultra-sleek and sporty models, to sunglasses for the ladies, Oakley has it all. The company has not only reinvented appearance, but also the design and composition of sunglasses, by producing models that block dangerous sunlight and are extra durable. With roots in motorcycle racing, cycling and sports, Oakley worked hard to produce sports shades that were strong in performance first, and looks second. After seen being worn by Tour de France winner Greg LeMond back in 1984, the brand has slowly been taking off. With maybe more different series and styles of sunglasses than any other maker, such as Nanowire, Radar, Flak Jacket, Half Jacket, to name a handful, you’ll never want for variety with Oakley.

More than fashion

With its origins in sports, Oakley sunglasses are designed to perform in a way that other pairs are not. With polarized anti-glare lenses and Oakley’s patented Plutonite lens, Oakley models are not made from flimsy and non-protective glass or plastic. Whilst other sunglasses makers claim their lenses block all harmful rays, the Plutonite material has been proven to do so. Moreover, since the Plutonite material is built into the actual lens, it won’t wear out or lose effectiveness over time.

Ultra sturdy

Not only do Oakley sunglasses protect your eyes from harmful UV-rays, but they also protect your eyes from impact with physical objects; something very important for athletes in sports like cycling. In fact, as the video test above using the Oakley Gascan sunglasses proves, the prescription sunglasses are actually able to withstand impact from heavy and large objects, whereas nearly all other competitors would essentially shatter. It’s not just the lens which are ultra durable, but the actual frames themselves that bend but don’t break. Many series of sports shades, such as the monstrous Oakley Monster Dog, or the ominous looking Oakley Jawbone with teeth, don’t just look the part, but are in fact very tough. Whether for cycling on long summer days, or playing volleyball on the beach, when it comes to reliable sports performance, Oakley is an excellent choice.

Build your own

Not happy with any designs you’ve seen? Like part of the sunglasses, but not the other part? Wish it were available in a different colour, with a different colour lens? Well, like pizza, Oakley lets you design your own custom made pair as well, and they make it fresh to order. Frame style, colour and lenses can all be tailor fitted to your person tastes using Oakley’s online website. See how the whole process unfolds in the video above.

Music/Sunglasses combo

Gadgets are compartmentalising more than ever these days, and sunglasses have not been left untouched. You wear your sunglasses on your head, so it does make perfect sense to let them double as Bluetooth headphones. Oakley were thinking along the same lines when they came up with the Oakley O Rokr, a Bluetooth pair of sunglasses perfect for jogging or other sporting activities that could use a musical accompaniment. With a half-frame design, the Oakley sunglasses look quite sleek and normal, except for the pull out earphones on the side. Comfortable and still lightweight, for anyone with a Bluetooth music phone or MP3 player, they are the perfect option for mobile sound.

Benefits Of Photochromic Sunglasses & Goggles

Posted by admin | Emporio Armani glasses,Giorgio Armani glasses,Vision Health | Thursday 4 February 2010 3:47 am

Although photochromic lenses are further commonly referred to over transitional lenses today, the correct characterize is photochromic or photochromatic. Photochromic prescription sunglasses are commonly referred to as transitional sunglasses due to of their transition from vague when outdoors to light when indoors. The definition of photochromic is capable of changing color on affectation to resplendent energy besides of, undifferentiated to, or utilizing the change of color shown by a photochromic substance.

You may ask yourself, “How does this happen?”

.Photochromic lenses accept many molecules embedded impact them. These molecules are transparent to visible light when force the absence of UV light, so the lenses leave be light. When in the genuineness of UV rays, the molecules operate and change shape. When this happens the molecules imbibe some of the visible gleaming causing the lens to darken. The brighter the sunlight the darker the lens.

Photochromic lenses are great for those that wear eyeglasses, who blame not wear sunglasses unless they are prescription. If you wear eyeglasses and wear sunglasses when outside, you are forced to manage two lock of eyewear. because incredibly people this is a harass. You either gash the pair you are carrying or lose them. If you choose to wear photochromics, you trust apathetic them for eyeglasses and sunglasses. You simply buy the photochromic sunglasses, be sure they are Rx pdq and bear them to your local conception doctor.

Photochromic sunglasses are great seeing motorcycle riding sunglasses as well. So many motorcyclists are forced to take two or even three pairs of sunglasses or goggles or interchangeable lens kits salt away clear, onyx and amber color lenses. With photochromic lenses you trust buy and carry pertinent one pair of sunglasses or goggles since all go and like dim cruising. With photochromic lenses you close not posit to pull ice the angle of the interstate endangering your bag also maybe others to change your sunglasses or goggles. You can ride from morning to night without ever having to remodel your eyewear.

When purchasing photochromic lenses copy aware of the money you are spending. If you buy cheap photochromic sunglasses or goggles the lenses boost to tailor at a famously slower footslog further usually do not get dark enough. They tend to darken to a grey/smoke instead of the darker charcoal lens. Some folks prefer this, but in our experience very people want the lenses to adapt quickly further to have the charcoal lens when outdoors instead of the lighter grey lens.

A lot of this will depend on how sensitive your view are to the sunlight. If you notice that you squint a lot when outdoors, your perception are more sensitive to bright which means you should spend the extra dollar and fulfill a divine blend of photochromics prescription sunglasses or goggles. You’ll perform happy you did.

sunglasses for summer 2010

Posted by admin | Emporio Armani glasses,Giorgio Armani glasses | Monday 1 February 2010 2:50 am

A girl never forgets her first piece of designer. It may be the thrill of the bag on your shoulder bearing the store name or the thrill of knowning it did in fact cost that much. But most of the time it’s the thrill of knowing you are right on trend.

For most girls, the first bit of designer we all try is the designer prescription sunglasses. A less expensive affordable piece of designer luxury.

It is worthwhile spending a bit extra on a pair as they do promise to help protect our eyes from the sun, more so then your average primark pair. I remember my own. Smooth classic black wayfarers. (I had a Bob Dylan obsession that would not quit that summer) and I strolled in Brown Thomas. While my own look is obsessed with wayfarers now. (and yes, closet clubmaster wearers, I have tried them and prefer wayfarers)

So when Brown Thomas asked me to come and view the collections for the spring summer, I jumped at the chance. (In fact strolling up the Dublin streets I felt a little more then 007 on a  mission) I was not disapointed. Giddy as a school girl on a sugar rush I pawed my way through style after style. Logos jumped out at me, Prada, Gucci and Dior, OH MY!

As always Brown Thomas remains the best place to see all the new styles and enjoy some selections which are not advailable just anywhere such as Victoria Beckham and Rock and Republic. Some of the styles are advailable already but a few shall be hitting stores soon in March 2010.

In the end, as always, my heart was promised to a pair of ray bans. So enjoy kids, here is the Miss Penny dreadful guide to summer sunglasses…….

Ray ban – This was the best collection we viewed. Brown Thomas are now featuring a selection of amazing wayfarers. Special edition glasses with floral designs in bright colors and graphic subways printed glasses. Ray bans are classics. To me they stand for statement. Rebellion. Punky alternative creative attitude. They also remind me of Bob Dylan which is great as he is amazing. The fantastic limited edition prints are edgy and modern and a fantastic twist on the classic ray ban. We were also delighted to see the reissue of the clubmaster. Readers of the blog will note previous articles we wrote on our adventure into the world of clubmasters, but the new clubmasters are no longer block colors but a more graphic striped style which as of now will be perminatly added to the ray-ban collection. Hurrah!

The clubmaster dominated celebrity sunglass style last summer but, I expect that this year, the subway printed glass will take off.

Featuring a print of a map of New York’s subway these glasses were my pick of the collection. Advailable now with the subway print on the inside or outside of the frame. Personally, I prefer it on the outside of the frame. It’s more of a statement piece. The best part about way farers and clubmasters (oh my!) is that they are very affordable. €130 for a limited edition pair. In my opinion. Well worth it.

Versace – Quite a colorful change from some of the darker lines on display. The 80’s influence stood out immediately. Bursting forward with some serious aqua, raspberry and purple shades. Mainly circular styles. Versace had an extremely strong presence and would definatly not be for the faint of fashion! These are highly fashion forward and create quite a strong look. Circular styles can be difficult to pull off if your like me, have a round face. But those with a pointed, heart shaped or oval face can carry a circular glass quite well.

Our pick would definatly be the intense blue glasses. Totally biased as blue is one of my hottest colors for the next season. It also looks great on blondes (being that I am blonde this works quite well for me)  I chose the ones which are slightly more square as they are easier to work on a  rounder face.

Tiffany’s – Exclusive to Brown Thomas I instantly loved two pieces in the collection. First of all, I loved the small Tiffanys charms which are advailable to change on the side of the glasses. A small detail but very elegant but showcase Tiffany’s attention to detail. I also loved the mint green shade on the frames. Three different charms are advailable. A heart,  A T and a Tiffany logo. Given that mint green nail varnish was one of the biggest trends of last season ( that chanel nail varnish anyone?) I am not ready to see it go yet. I loved the fresh spring appeal of the green. It instantly updated quite a traditional circular lense. Bringing it into 2010.  The line seemed very feminine and quite delicate. Definatly a must have for those who are looking forward to the candy colors of S/S10 as shown on the catwalks of Burberry and Valentino.

Our pick is already mentioned above. The mint green. Pure elegance.

Stella Macartney – Modern metallics sit comfortably on a distinctive collection organised in 5 catagories after 5 zodiac signs, Gemini, Leo, scorpio, Libra and Virgo. Flat visor styles featured strongly in the collection. Aviators are given a modern metallic edge making a very contemporary collection.

Any item from the collection has a luxiourious and timeless factor. It will never date. This is truly a collection you can rewear season to season. A truly classic style.

Our pick was the classic bug eyed style in the bright turquoise. A girl needs a bright color injection every now and again!

Prada – Never mind the devil. I wish I wore Prada. Even more so after viewing the beautiful line advailable from Brown Thomas for S/S10. Prada to million including myself will always mean a classic style. Something which will never go out of fashion, never look dated or tired. And I am happy to report the new line is every bit as iconic as Prada have always been. Classic circular styles in black are advailable in a lighter blue or ruby shade allowing for a style to fit every outfit and every character. Even a yellow aviator advailable for the more fashion conscious and daring amongst us.

Our pick of the collection was easy to make. The yellow aviators really stood out. Maybe it’s that here at the site we are attracted to brightly colored items but,  I think in the midst of a recession, we could all use a little lift and a little light in our lives. These aviators are the way to do it. Classic 80’s style with a twist of citrus fresh yellow thrown in, given that yellow featured on the catwalks in the works of Marc Jacobs and Versace to name a few, it’s one shade set for S/S domination.

Dolce and Gabbana -  Dolce and Gabbana styles seemed quite classic on first glance. It took a second glance for me to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into developing such a fantastic range. Each pair seems to be an iconic style which has been taken in 2010 with a modern twist. Think the type of glass a modern Audrey Hepburn would have worn had she had the choice in 2010. Aviators are made chunky, circular styles are given D&G trademark logos, and visor sports styles featured heavily. Some beautiful colors with the raspberry purple standing out strongly admist the black aviators and white visors.  The attention to detail in the line was incredible. It is certainly a collection which attracts both the high glamour loving lady and the every day need to wear a sunglass which is actually functional.

Our pick is a strange one. We quite loved the circular / square glasses. Sounds odd right? It’s not, I can assure you. While quite a unique style they are certainly show stopping and different. Prehapes the more fashion forward lady with fashion nerves of steel. These are not for the faint of heart. They demand a high heel, a statement coat and the determind look of ‘fierce.’

Chanel – You know it instantly. That shortens of breath, that feeling of dizziness. The ‘chanel effect.’ That feeling of excitement when you can see the interlocking double CC’S famous as the chanel logo.  Chanel is one of the most iconic brands that you instantly do not need to be told anything about. Beautiful, elegant and classic are words that come to mind when discussing chanel. (most of the time with bated breath) This season, chanel focused on designing a tweed effect on the glass frames.  The effect took 18 months to develop. While chanel is famous for tweed suits, bags and of course her two toned shoes (amongst a whole host of other amazing fashion inventions too numerous to name here) developed in 1957, the effects have been carefully added to her glasses. Who can forget the amazing circular glasses from last season worn by Mary Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie with the fade from black to clear on the lense? This season, the fade has switched to the frame. Black and white frames with the iconic logo appearing on the side of the glasses.

Chanel also loved ribbons and bow. So at the side of the glasses there is a bow featured almost as if a metallic ribbon has been tied with the logo present. This was an amazing collection.

Our pick was the hardest thing to do. We could not choose.  I think it was possibly the tweed effect glasses. I love the fact that someone had to work for 18 months to produce such a beautiful effect. It just proves how dedicated Chanel are, as a brand to preserving Coco Chanels brand vision. Which in 2010 in a campaign headed by one, Lilly Allen is just as relevant as ever.

We love a bit of fashion espionage. So when an invite to the inner sanctum of Irelands fashion arrived in the inbox, we simply could not refuse. So donning our best long black coat (the one with the amazine statement shoulders) we set off into the head offices of Brown Thomas for a sneaky peek at their new sunglasses collection. And we were blown away.

It is easy to forget how important a good pair of sunglasses actually is. Ray-ban for example have been making sunglasses since 1937 and have special lenses to absorb UV and infrared rays. So have made prescription sunglasses for that long, they know what their doing. But a pair of sunglasses can also be an outfit maker or breaker. It is easy to wear the wrong shape for your face shape or the wrong color for your outfit. Which is why it is a good idea to drop into the store and actually try a few pairs on.  It’s also a great way to inject a little designer into your life without the expense of an entire outfit. Experiement with the differnet styles and believe us, we saw everything from Versace to Prada to DVB and back again. Being in style for 2010 Spring Summer has never been so easy.
